Student Insurance
As a service to students and their families, each school year the District makes available a voluntary student accident insurance plan. The agent is First Agency, Inc., 5071 West H Avenue, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, (269)381-6630, website: www.1stagency.com
Enrollment applications with mail back envelopes are available beginning in August of each school year and may be picked up in the main office at each school, the athletic office, or the superintendent's office. The Michigan Premier Student Accident Insurance brochure explains the plan, details of coverage, and costs.

Property/Casualty Insurance
The district is a member of the Metropolitan Association for Improved School Legislation (MAISL) Joint Risk Management Trust. The Trust is a group self-insurance program that provides our property, casualty, liability, and auto coverages.
MAISL has retained Gallagher Bassett Services, Inc. to administer the self-insurance program for member districts.
If an incident occurs please complete the following form immediately after the incident:
Student Injury Report (see instructions for reportable injury conditions)
Bus, Auto, and Truck Accident Report
Incident Report (If you encounter an incident or sustain an injury and are NOT a staff member or student of DCS, please complete this form)
Submit the completed form to the Business Office. The Business Office will forward the report to MAISL/Gallagher Bassett.
Serious losses such as large property damage, serious student injuries, vehicle accidents, or notification of lawsuits should be called in to Gallagher Bassett, 24 hours a day, at (248) 352-1062. Your immediate reporting to a Gallagher Bassett claim representative is critical to containing claim costs. Prompt reporting allows the adjuster to begin the investigation, visit sites, institute emergency repair and hasten the return to normal operation of the district. This should be followed up with a written claim report as soon as possible.

Employee Incidents & Personal Property Losses
Accident/Injuries - Employee accidents/injuries should be reported on the Dexter Community Schools Employee Accident/Injury Form
Personal Property - Employees who experience a personal property loss can file a Personal Property Loss Claim Form. All claims will be reviewed at the end of the school year for possible reimbursement.
