Register for Community Ed Classes

To register for classes, log into Eleyo and go to the Class Registration page.

Log in to your account. You can search for classes by keyword or course number.
If this is your first time registering using Eleyo, click the login button at the top of the screen, then follow the directions to create an account.
Please register early; we may cancel classes that appear to have low enrollment prior to the start date. In the event that we cancel a class that has some enrollees, we will notify you of that status.

SPORTS LEAGUES/PROGRAM INFORMATION

YOUTH HOUSE BASKETBALL

Our Youth House Basketball League offers a fun and supportive setting for boys and girls in grades 1-6 to develop basketball skills, play in an organized league, and build teamwork and sportsmanship. Open to all skill levels, no prior experience is needed. Registration typically opens in late October and closes in early December. The season includes seven weeks of practices and six weeks of games, with games held on Saturdays. There are no games scheduled over Martin Luther King Jr. Weekend or Presidents' Day Weekend. Practices take place once a week starting in January, and families should note any scheduling conflicts during registration.

YOUTH TRAVEL BASKETBALL

Our Youth Travel Basketball program provides a competitive experience for boys and girls in grades 4-8, with teams formed through tryouts each fall. The travel season typically runs from November through February, except for 7th and 8th grade teams, which are scheduled around the middle school basketball season—7th and 8th grade girls finish their season in December, while 7th and 8th grade boys begin in January. Teams compete in the Novi Big Cat League or in leagues based out of Tecumseh, facing off against other communities while focusing on skill development, teamwork, and game strategy.

DEXTER LITTLE LEAGUE

Dexter Little League provides youth baseball and softball opportunities for players ages 5-14, fostering skill development, teamwork, and a love for the game. The main season runs from April to mid-June, offering divisions for various age groups and experience levels. For those looking to continue playing through the summer, a shorter, more relaxed league runs for 4-5 weeks in July and early August. For more information visit dexterlittleleague.com

DEXTER YOUTH FOOTBALL LEAGUE

Dexter Youth Football offers Tackle Football for grades 3-6 and Flag Football for grades 1-6, based on the upcoming school year. Registration typically opens in April, with the season running August through October. Tackle Football practices begin in August (subject to change), with games starting in September. Practices are traditionally held three evenings per week after 6 p.m. Flag Football teams are divided by grade level (1st/2nd, 3rd/4th, 5th/6th) and focus on learning the game and having fun in a team environment. Logging in/Account Info

Q: I can’t log in.

Make sure you are using the email address you signed up with. If you get a message that your email or password is incorrect, click on the “forgot your password” link. It will ask you to enter your email, and send you your password that way. That doesn’t work for all browsers – if that doesn’t work for you, call our office 734.424.4180 and we can manually reset the password.

Q: It says my email doesn’t exist.

You probably set up the account with an old email address. You can call our office (734-424-4180) and we will correct the email address and set you up with a new login

Q. How do I update my account information?

Log in to your account, then click on the Profile tab. Select the parts of your profile you want to edit. Be sure to click save changes when you are finished.

Q. Why don’t I get any emails about classes? My child’s friends do. Your email may be out of date. Please update your family information online (see above) or call our office for help to do so: 734.424-4180. Because of the volume of people we send course information to, we communicate primarily by email. It’s important to keep yours up-to-date for most efficient sharing.

REFUND POLICY

Dexter Community Education does not offer refunds, credits or reduction of fees for any class missed by a student, including late registration. Unless a different policy is specified in the course description, full refunds (minus a $5 processing fee) will be given for requests received at least one week before the course begins.

If a class is cancelled for lack of enrollment, you will receive a full refund. A class canceled by Community Education because of weather, instructor illness, etc, will be rescheduled if possible. If a class cannot be rescheduled, a prorated refund will be offered.

Class Registration

Q. Do I have to come in to the office if I don’t want to/can’t register online? No. You can call us and we can take credit card payment over the phone or you may mail a check with the enrollment form to Community Education, 2704 Baker Rd., Dexter, MI 48130.

Q. How do I know if my course will run? If minimum enrollment is not met by the registration deadline (at least one week prior to start date, sometimes earlier), we will let you know the course won’t run and refund your payment to your credit card or by check if you paid with cash or check.

Q. Why is the course cancelled—it doesn’t start for a week? Instructors need time to order materials and plan. If a course doesn’t meet minimum enrollment by one week prior to start date, we cancel to allow registrants and instructors time to make alternate plans.

Q. How do I find the course I want online? There are two ways:

Click on the appropriate tab (Adult Programs, Athletics, Child Care, Jenkins ECLC, Youth Programs) and use the pulldown menu under each to narrow the categories. On each of those subpages, there are listings for the courses available in each category. Click on a course to learn more and/or register.
Search by keyword or category in the Search box on the homepage. Use Advanced Search to search by start date and other more specific options.

Q. The computer says the registration deadline has passed or the course is full. Am I out of luck? Please call our office. There may be space and time to add a student, or we can put you on the waiting list in case we have enough interest to add spaces.

Q. How do I know my registration went through online? The software sends a confirmation of registration. You can also check your account activity to confirm you are registered properly.

Q. What is the Refund Policy? Refunds for dropping a class must be requested at least one week before class begins. There is a $5.00 per class processing fee for refund requests. There is no refund, credit, or reduction of fees for any class missed by a student, including late registration.

Notifications/Cancellations

When weather or building issues affect our programs, we usually notify people first through email. This is simply the most efficient method when we are dealing with a large number of affected customers. Please ensure that your account includes your most current email so that we can share important information with you

AFTER SCHOOL CLASS CANCELLATIONS

Q. What happens when after school classes are cancelled due to weather or other circumstances? Parents should have an advance plan with students about what to do in the event that classes are cancelled. If the weather is questionable, whenever possible, we make the decision to cancel by 2:00pm. At that point, we send an email to the affected families. The schools will make an announcement to students. For those occasions when a back-up plan is not in place or something changes, students should go to their school office for help in contacting parents. You may also opt-in to receive notifications via text message. To do so, in your Eleyo Use Profile, check the box next to your phone number to indicate you can receive SMS (short message service). CLASS SCHOLARSHIPS

Dexter Community Education offers Dexter School District families need-based scholarships for most of our programs. We offer one per child per catalog.

Generally, students who qualify for free lunch through the schools qualify for a scholarship of up to $100 for one class; students who qualify for reduced lunch may be eligible for a partial scholarship. We may also offer scholarships for families with special circumstances on a case-by-case basis.

We are not able to offer scholarships for programs that are not run by Community Education, nor for classes that do not meet minimum enrollments. All scholarships require the Director’s approval. If you register for a class using a scholarship and cancel less than one week prior to start date, you will forfeit your scholarship for that semester. Your signature on the application below indicates that you have read and accept these policies.

Once our office receives your application, we will confirm eligibility, but hold registration until the course meets minimum enrollment. Your “place in line” will be preserved. Once minimum enrollment is met, we will register your child and send you confirmation.
