Curriculum

Chief Academic Officer Melanie Nowak, a graduate of Siena Heights University and Concordia University, taught Algebra 2, PreCalculus, and English IV at Ida High School for ten years. Melanie also coached softball and basketball. After leaving the classroom, Ms. Nowak went on to become an elementary principal, middle school principal, and a curriculum coordinator at Farmington Public Schools. She joined Dexter Community Schools as Dexter High School Principal in July 2021, and moved to Chief Academic Officer in August 2026. In addition to her school administrative positions, Ms. Nowak served several districts as a Competency-Based Education consultant. Innovative teaching and learning practices as well as curriculum design are a passion of Ms. Nowak. Outside of her professional career, Melanie loves to play with her two young children.
