SOC UPDATE DECEMBER 10, 2020
Please note: As a limited schools of choice district, Dexter Community Schools typically SOC enrollment for the full year only, starting with fall. In response to shifting housing situations created by the COVID-19 pandemic, on December 7, 2020, the Board of Education approved a second window for mid-year schools of choice enrollment for the 2020-2021 school year, with the following openings available: at least one spot per grade in grades young five through eight, at least one spot for the IB Programme in grade nine and at least one spot for the IB Programme in grade ten, as well as at least one spot for the virtual school and at least one spot for the Early Middle College program.
The application period will be January 4th through 15th. Applications can only be accepted during this window, and you must complete a form for each student. Once the application window closes, all eligible applications will be reviewed. First priority goes to currently enrolled Dexter students and their siblings. In the event that there are more applications than spots for any given grade, we will do a lottery for the available spaces. Families will be notified on January 20th of their status. Accepted students must be enrolled by the end of the first week of second semester, January 29, 2020.
Please read the information below that describes the program and requirements in depth. If you have any further questions, contact SOC coordinator Hope Vestergaard or call 734-424-4102.
