Sixty students in Jane Montero’s 6th grade art classes submitted artwork for consideration in the Lions Clubs International 2024 Peace Poster Contest. Five students’ posters were selected as winners: first place was awarded to Violet Harless, second place to Jessica Brooks, third place to Liz Selden, fourth place to Claire Reyes, and fifth place to Janelle Nelson.

Violet, along with her parents, brother, and Dr. Montero, attended a recent Dexter Lions Club meeting where she was presented with a $100 check by Lion Chairman John Gochis. Her poster will next be submitted for District and State judging. Second through fifth place student winners will each receive a $25 check.

The Dexter Lions Club has participated in the Lions Club International Peace Poster contest for the past ten years. Last year, over 600,000 Peace Posters were submitted worldwide.
