Earlier this month, students in upper-level Spanish classes went on a walking field trip to Chela’s Restaurant and Taqueria for a cultural immersion experience. They ordered and paid for a delicious lunch of traditional Mexican dishes—all in Spanish—then hit the dance floor to learn some basic salsa steps. Organized by Profe Kim Méndez and Profe Maria Vázquez, this festive extended learning opportunity gave students a fun and practical way to use their language skills in a real-world setting.
