Library Books
Our wonderful media paraprofessionals are wrapping up book checkout and beginning to inventory our libraries. Students’ last day to check out books at Anchor (Y5/K) was Thursday, May 14th and Beacon (Grades 1 & 2) will be on Thursday, May 21st. All library books are due the following week during the students’ regularly scheduled library times. Our Dexter Community Library team will also be visiting classes soon to share about upcoming events and the Summer Reading Program. Thank you!
Medication Pick Up
Any child that has school administered medications or emergency medications (such as epipens) needs to be picked up from the front offices by June 12th. These cannot be sent home with students and need to be given to a parent/guardian. If you need assistance in arranging a time for pick up, please reach out to our secretaries at deec@dexterschools.org.
Save the Date - Kalahari Summer Fundraiser
The Kalahari Summer Fundraiser will be held on August 16th, 2026! We know many families had a great time over Winter Break, and are already planning to return…or if you couldn’t make it in the winter, BOTH indoor and outdoor waterparks are open in the summer months! We need two types of volunteers for Field Day: people to run the stations and people to escort the classrooms. Since many teachers will be moving their classrooms over the summer, they may be preparing the classroom instead of participating in Field Day. To ensure our students have enough supervision, we are looking for more volunteers to escort the classes this year. Plus people to help set up and clean up!

Incoming Y5/Kindergarten KickOff Event
In an effort to have our incoming students meet new classmates and become familiar with the Dexter Early Elementary Complex, we have arranged for an “Y5/Kindergarten Kickoff” Event on Wednesday, May 27 from 5:00-6:00pm! This optional informal gathering is a chance to meet other incoming Dexter students and families before starting school in August. New students will receive their first Dexter spirit wear t-shirt! Come check out a DCS School Bus too! Our transportation department will be here to help get your students ready for their first bus ride. Secretaries will be available to finalize registration and collect any outstanding documents. Families and siblings are invited, however, please be sure to watch your own children while at the park. Bring your own water and snacks. PTO has arranged for the Kona Ice and Little Caesars Pizza Trucks to be present too!. Outdoor restrooms are available, but the school building will not be open.
