Champion Learning: Develop, Educate, and INSPIRE!

DHS Senior Update 9-26-2025

Dear Class of 2026 and families,

It has been one of the great privileges of my career to serve as your principal since your very first days as freshmen, and I want to take a moment to share how deeply impressed and inspired I have been by this extraordinary class. The Class of 2026 has distinguished itself not only through remarkable academic achievement, but also through its leadership, creativity, and character. From the classroom to the stage, from the athletic fields to countless clubs and service opportunities, this group has consistently demonstrated a depth of talent and a spirit of collaboration that have set the standard for our school community. Perhaps most importantly, they have been outstanding role models for underclassmen, showing what it means to combine intellect with integrity, and accomplishment with humility. I am profoundly grateful for the relationships we have built together since freshman year, and I cannot wait to watch this exceptional group of young people continue to make their mark on the world.

Starting next week, I will transition into the role of DCS's Chief Academic Officer. Mrs. Holland and Mrs. Hervey will take the helm and lead you through the remainder of your senior year. You're in great hands, Dreadnaughts!

With appreciation and gratitude,

Melanie Nowak
