Champion Learning: Develop, Educate, and INSPIRE!

DHS Senior Update 4-24-2026

Dear Class of 2026 and families,

Happy Friday! We hope everyone enjoyed the warm weather and sunshine this week.

AP and IB exams begin on Tuesday! Students can find their room assignments posted on the windows overlooking the media center on the 2nd floor. If you have questions, please review the presentation and recording from the exam logistics meeting. Further questions about AP exams can be directed to Rachel Hervey (herveyr@dexterschools.org), and IB exam questions can be directed to Carrie James (jamesc@dexterschools.org).

Have you completed your Educational Development Plan (EDP) yet? Students who have not completed their EDP are not eligible to graduate in the State of Michigan. Look for an email from Ms. Nelson with easy-to-follow directions on completing this important requirement. If you have questions, contact Ms. Nelson at nelsonk@dexterschools.org

Prom is Friday, May 22nd, at Michigan Stadium. Tickets will go on sale the week of May 11th. Tickets will be $50 a person. If you need financial assistance, please contact Assistant Principal Rachel Hervey at herveyr@dexterschools.org. Any non-DHS student is required to have an approved guest form. Printed guest forms can be picked up in the main office.

Graduation is quickly approaching! Make sure your calendar has both the mandatory rehearsal (for students only) and the commencement ceremony on it. Review the district website for more information about the Class of 2026 graduation.

Have a great weekend and go Dreads!

SCHOLARSHIP SEASON

The time to start learning about scholarship opportunities is now! While counselors do their best to keep students informed about scholarship opportunities, it is important that students spend time learning more about the opportunities that are available and that they may benefit from. Scholarship opportunities will always be posted to the Class of 2026 Canvas page.

Michigan Achievement Scholarship Information Sessions - High school students and families interested in learning more about the Michigan Achievement Scholarship are encouraged to attend a FREE informational webinar provided by MI Student Aid. Sign up using the link above.

The FAFSA is open!

The 2026-2027 FAFSA is officially open. It is recommended that all seniors complete the FAFSA, regardless of plans for the 2026-2027 school year. Follow the Mi Student Aid FAFSA Checklist for guidance.

Wondering if your family makes too much to qualify for money through the FAFSA? Good news! Filling out the FAFSA opens the door to some scholarships that aren’t as income-based as you might think, like the Community College Guarantee! When you fill out the FAFSA, you’re applying for federal, state, and even school funding. If the FAFSA isn’t completed, the senior could miss out on financial aid. No matter your household income, it’s worth it to fill out the FAFSA. You could qualify for more than you expect! Get started today at FAFSA.gov.
