Happy Friday!
You have made it to your last week of high school! The day that seemed so far away is finally here. Enjoy the last A day, last B day, last wake-up, last school lunch, and all of the other lasts that you will experience this week. Enjoy the time with your classmates, these are memories that will last you a lifetime!
While this week is about having fun and saying goodbye to the life you’ve known for the past 13 years, we also want to remind you of the importance of positive behavior during school hours and any time you are on campus - including school-sponsored events (as well as away athletic/club events). Have fun, be smart, and represent yourself, your family, and DHS in a positive way! We want to see everyone walk across the stage on May 29th!
A trip down memory lane… senior-only events this week!
- Sunday - Last Night Under the Lights at Al Ritt. Gates open at 6 PM, movie starts at about 7:15 PM, food trucks, yard games, goodie bags, and more. Pillows are allowed; however, no blankets are permitted. Dress for the weather!
- Monday - Outdoor recess during all lunches
- Tuesday - The Best Friend Game Show (during 1B - come with your class!)
- Wednesday - Flashback to Mill Creek & COVID - wear your team colors (see Canvas) and go on the KN95 masked scavenger hunt around the building.
- Thursday - PARK IN THE STAFF LOT OFF SHIELD ROAD. Senior clap out and cook out. Turn in all books and school technology, get your cap and gown, walk through the halls of each building, and enjoy a cookout with your class!
Prom is FRIDAY at Michigan Stadium. Tickets are now on sale. Tickets are $50 a person ($100 a couple). If you need financial assistance, please contact Assistant Principal Rachel Hervey at herveyr@dexterschools.org. Any non-DHS student is required to have an approved guest form. Printed guest forms can be picked up in the main office.
It’s time to start ordering your senior yard signs. The online store is officially open and will remain open through the end of May. Order your sign today!
Senior Meal Account Balances
Every year, we have graduating seniors who have a positive balance in their meal accounts. There are a few options for the remaining money in seniors' accounts:
1) The balance can be transferred to a younger sibling
2) Families can request a refund by following the steps on www.dexterschools.org/ departments/fandn under the Refunds tab
3) Families can donate the funds to the Dreadnaught Food Scholarship fund. This helps to provide food to students in need.
Families have six months to make these changes. Any remaining balance in an inactive student account after six months will be automatically donated to our Scholarship Fund.
Please reach out to Food & Nutrition Director, Jennifer Mattison, at mattisonj@dexterschools.org with any questions.
Have a great weekend and go Dreads!

The FAFSA is open!
The 2026-2027 FAFSA is officially open. It is recommended that all seniors complete the FAFSA, regardless of plans for the 2026-2027 school year. Follow the Mi Student Aid FAFSA Checklist for guidance.
Wondering if your family makes too much to qualify for money through the FAFSA? Good news! Filling out the FAFSA opens the door to some scholarships that aren’t as income-based as you might think, like the Community College Guarantee! When you fill out the FAFSA, you’re applying for federal, state, and even school funding. If the FAFSA isn’t completed, the senior could miss out on financial aid. No matter your household income, it’s worth it to fill out the FAFSA. You could qualify for more than you expect! Get started today at FAFSA.gov.
