From Dr. Ken Moore:
I'm blessed to teach some superb student musicians at DHS. Senior Diego Reyes is one of them. Diego's primary instruments are trumpet and piano, but he can play any instrument he takes up. He is also a talented arranger and a strong leader. Here is a partial list of the things he's done this year:
-
Served as co-sectional leader for the trumpets
-
Wrote an arrangement of Somewhere in my Memory (From "Home Alone") for brass quintet
-
Wrote a medley of music from the Jurassic Park films for full band that our Symphonic Band will play at the spring concert.
-
Led our Pep Band to support many sports that don't normally get supported with music.
-
Received First Division ratings (the highest) on multiple events at the District Solo and Ensemble Festival.
-
Played various instruments for the musical, the DHS Big Band, and the Chamber Orchestra
-
He will rehearse and conduct the Varsity Band on one piece at the spring concert
Diego is kind, considerate, passionate about musical expression, and a young man of great personal integrity. He is one of the most outstanding young people I've had the good fortune to teach in my 32-year career, and I'm very proud of him.
