DCS Families and Staff,
We’re just days away from the May 6th election — please remember to vote! For factual information about the 2025 bond proposal, visit:

This proposal reflects a year-long review of facility needs, program goals, and financial stewardship. A 31-member committee of community members and staff shaped a long-range plan through 2033. Dexter has a tradition of evolving our schools and maintaining our facilities on an every 8–10 year planning cycle to meet student and community needs. See our district’s facility evolution here:
Evolution of DCS
Proposal Highlights:
- Replace the aging academic wing at Creekside with a new two-story structure ($45M vs. $37M in repairs)
- Relocate 7th & 8th graders to this new wing, organizing all K–6 students on one side of Baker Rd and 7–12 on the other
- Align start/end times, improve traffic flow and bus routes, and streamline staffing
- Add a second theater to enhance learning and community use
Phased Bond Sale Plan (to minimize interest costs and align with construction needs):
- 2025: ~$60 million to fund the first set of projects at DHS and Wylie along with the design phase of the Creekside rebuild through 2027/28
- 2027: ~$75 million to support mid-phase projects, including the Creekside rebuild, infrastructure upgrades and facility enhancements
- 2029: ~$90 million for continued projects, including expansion of learning spaces and safety improvements
- 2031: Remaining funds issued to complete final planned upgrades through 2033
This approach helps Dexter Community Schools borrow only as needed, reducing taxpayer interest burden and increasing fiscal flexibility.
Dexter Community Schools is one of the top-performing districts in Michigan and across the country—thanks to the incredible support of our families, staff, and community. Thank you for your continued commitment to our schools and to one another.
Please remember to vote on May 6th — and Go Dreads!
Sincerely,
Christopher Timmis, EdD
Superintendent
