Champion Learning: Develop, Educate, and INSPIRE!

Superintendent Update 9-4-2025

Dear DCS Students, Families, and Staff,

The school year is off to a great start!  Seeing the kids back on our campus with smiles and laughter enjoying childhood is the reason we all went into education.  Thank you for everything you do to make DCS such a wonderful place for kids and Dexter an incredible community.

Below are a few quick updates:

  • Dread Strong Signs:  Dread Strong signs are ordered and will be available on Friday, September 12th after the start of the home football game.  Every year, we place the signs for the community to take and display the afternoon of the first home football game and on homecoming.  This year we will do the same. Thank you for proudly displaying the signs throughout the district and Go Dreads!
  • Host Family Needed ASAP:  Every year, DHS hosts students from around the world.  We have a student from France who has been placed in a temporary host family an hour away from Dexter and had multiple host families fall through. She is in Michigan right now and has been attending DHS.  If we don’t find a family willing to host family by tomorrow, she will need to return to France.  If you know of anyone who would be interested in hosting this student, please contact Cheryl DaSilva at 617-710-5700 or  cdasilva@pse-edu.org.  The student, Clarisse, is a 12th grader from France and plans to attend DHS for the entire school year.  Host families are provided a monthly stipend of $800 from PSE.  Clarisse has her own spending money and health insurance.  She is in need of a host family who will provide a caring home with her own bedroom, a place to study, and three meals per day.  Any meals eaten outside the home are paid by the student.  My family was fortunate to host an international student several years ago and it was a tremendous experience.  Please help us find a host family for this young lady so she can enjoy her time in Dexter.
  • Bond Sales Thanks to the support of the DCS voters, the 2025 bond proposal passed in May.  The proposal is structured in four separate series of bond sales starting with a sale in 2025.  In the next 4-6 weeks, $66,515,000 in tax-free bonds will be sold.  The bonds are rated AA and the sales are being managed by Stifel. Bond pricing is anticipated the week of September 15th.   If you are interested in purchasing bonds or learning more, please contact Stifel at (888) 280-3560 or contact your local Stifel Financial Advisor.

Thank you for your continued support and Go Dreads!

Sincerely,

Christopher Timmis, EdD

Superintendent

P.S.  As always, Beat Chelsea!
