Champion Learning: Develop, Educate, and INSPIRE!

Welcome Back!

Dear Students, Parents, and Staff,

If you haven't met me, I'm Barb Leonard, Executive Director for Human Resources. In Dr. Timmis's absence, I am delighted to welcome you all back to another exciting school year!

While we all miss Dr. Timmis at the helm and look forward to his return, so far the whole DCS crew has kept things running smoothly. We’ve just completed our first week, and I’m pleased to share that it has been an outstanding start. The energy and enthusiasm across our schools have been truly inspiring, and classrooms are already buzzing with learning and creativity.

To our students, I’ve seen you quickly settling in, eager to tackle new challenges and build lasting friendships. Your passion for learning reminds us all why we are here—to support and guide you as you grow into the leaders of tomorrow.

To our parents, your partnership is invaluable. Thank you for entrusting us with your children’s education. Your involvement and support are key to their success, and we look forward to continuing this journey together.

To our dedicated staff, your hard work and commitment are evident in the smooth start we’ve had. Your efforts to create welcoming and engaging environments for our students do not go unnoticed. Thank you for all that you do.

As we move forward, we are excited to carry this momentum throughout the school year. Together, we can achieve great things and ensure that each student has the opportunity to thrive.

Here’s to a wonderful year ahead! Thank you for your continued support and Go Dreads!

Sincerely,

Barb Leonard, Ed.S
Executive Director of Human Resources

Free Breakfast and Lunch for All Students:

Dexter students will receive free nutritious meals at school again this year as a result of a $200 million appropriation in the state’s School Aid budget. This includes items listed on the school breakfast & lunch menus for each building at dexterschools.nutrislice.com. Extra a la carte items are available for purchase for grades 5 and up; families can deposit funds for those in their student accounts via the Family Portal.

If you are eligible for Free and Reduced Meals, please complete the 2024-2025 forms to determine eligibility for other educational programs. Completed forms help districts and families with accessing additional health and wellness services, before and after school academic and enrichment programs, and guidance and college counselors, as well as fee waivers for various tests and applications.
