Meet Your TeachersMrs. Cheryl Darnton teaches social studies on our team. One of her life aspirations is to visit every continent on the planet. She has been to 4 of the 7 so far. Mrs. Darnton has 3 grown kids, ages 23, 25, and 28. In her spare time she loves to bike, run, XC ski, work in her garden, and sail with her family. She also coaches cross country and track at Mill Creek. This fall marks her 18th year of teaching at Mill Creek.Mr. Bill Ivan is elated to begin his 2nd year teaching English at Mill Creek and his 5th year teaching. He graduated with a Bachelors from Indiana University in 2014 and then received a Masters of Arts in Teaching from Marian University in Indianapolis in 2016, while serving as a Teach for America Corp member. He has coached the Mill Creek Track and Field team the last two years with Coach Darnton. After coaching 7th grade football last year, he is joining the Varsity Staff this fall. He is a lifelong athlete and avid sports fan. In his spare time he loves reading, following current events, riding his road bike, cross-country skiing, hiking, traveling and sailing at his family lake house in Charlevoix. He looks forward to getting to know all of you and can't wait to start this year.
Mrs. Marianne Mutschler teaches science on our team. This will be her 13th year teaching at Mill Creek. Mrs. Mutschler has a Master’s Degree in K-12 Educational Leadership and continues to take classes through her alma mater, Michigan State (Go Green!). She enjoys spending her time after school with her husband and her five young sons, ages 8, 6, 4, 2, and eleven months. In her spare time, she enjoys running, playing volleyball, reading, and traveling.
Mrs. Macy Selecman teaches math on the team. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Math and Spanish from the University of Michigan, and also holds a Master's Degree in Teaching. This is her 19th year at Mill Creek and she loves working at Mill Creek and in Dexter! She lives in Novi and has three wonderful kids, Abby (11), Trevor (9), and Leah (6). She loves to scrapbook, read, play board games and video games, and also attend sporting and scouting events with her family.Ms. Anna Vess is a resource room teacher on the team. She earned a Bachelor's Degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University and this will be her third year at Mill Creek! In her spare time she loves to play and watch sports, especially soccer and basketball. She also loves to read, exercise and spend time with family and friends. She can't wait to start another wonderful year!
