After-School Care

School-Aged Child Care

Dexter Community Services is pleased to offer child care services in addition to the many opportunities we offer for the Dexter Community.

Our child care program is staffed with highly motivated individuals who are qualified, experienced and caring. Our licensed child care program has been in operation for over 20 years, offering extended services beyond the school calendar. The child care program is closed when school is canceled due to inclement weather.

The Aftercare program has been consolidated at Wylie Elementary School.  Bates & Cornerstone students are escorted by Dexter Community Education staff to their Aftercare classroom.  Creekside students ride the bus to the bus hub and walk to their Aftercare classroom.  Each classroom has a lead teacher and an assistant, all of whom are experienced and highly motivated caregivers.
Hours of operation: Dismissal- 6:00pm.

2018-19 Child Care Registration

Registration materials for after-school care for the 2018-19 school year are available to download. Care spots are filled on a space-available basis. Our school-age programs are quite popular, so we recommend that parents do not delay registering their child if they will need care. We accept registration throughout the summer and into the school year, space permitting. Families who have not registered for school-age care by August 22 may not be able to start care until September 10, if there is space available at that time.

Registration for current Care families opens April 2nd.
Registration for general public opens
May 4th.

Early Release and No School Days

Early Release and No School Days

When school is scheduled not to be in session for either a full or half-day, we offer special programs for Young Five through 6th grade students in Dexter Community Schools. You may choose which days to enroll your child. Our programs are fun, age appropriate, and incorporate a wide variety of activities. We plan projects, presentations, and off-site learning opportunities to develop and enhance children’s interests and awareness of the world around them. These programs are filled on a first-come, first-served basis. In the event that programs do not fill, they may be cancelled or plans may be adjusted. Register for special programs via the Community Education website.

Register for any and/or all of our Special Program Days by paying for your selected date(s) and completing the following forms. We will keep them on file for the duration of the school year.
