Craig McCalla was principal of Cornerstone Elementary for thirteen years before the name changed to Anchor Elementary. Craig earned a bachelor of arts degree in Emotional Impairments and a master of arts in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Before coming to Dexter, he taught in Saline for one year, and  Chelsea for eight years. The first six years in Chelsea, Craig taught the regional emotionally impaired classroom at Pierce Lake Elementary and the last two years he was a teacher consultant at Beach Middle School. Craig says, "I enjoy the energy and passion of the students and staff.  We have built a school based on what is best for students.  I am amazed every day at the commitment to education of our students, staff, families, and community. My career has been filled with amazing people who have taught me the importance of listening, being compassionate, and caring about those around me.  I owe so many, so much." In his spare time, Craig enjoys traveling, playing baseball, reading together, and spending time with friends and family: wife Kathryn, son Jack, and their dog Roxie. In his spare time he does construction projects, plays ice hockey, wrestles, reads, and cheers for Detroit teams. Phone extension: 2001
