Administrative Team


Craig McCalla was principal of Cornerstone Elementary for twelve years before the name change to Anchor Elementary. Craig earned a bachelor of arts degree in Emotional Impairments and a master of arts in Educational Leadership from Eastern Michigan University. Before coming to Dexter, he taught in Saline for one year, and  Chelsea for eight years. The first six years in Chelsea, Craig taught the regional emotionally impaired classroom at Pierce Lake Elementary and the last two years he was a teacher consultant at Beach Middle School. Craig says, "I enjoy the energy and passion of the students and staff.  We have built a school based on what is best for students.  I am amazed every day at the commitment to education of our students, staff, families, and community. My career has been filled with amazing people who have taught me the importance of listening, being compassionate, and caring about those around me.  I owe so many, so much." In his spare time, Craig enjoys traveling, playing baseball, reading together, and spending time with friends and family: wife Kathryn, son Jack, and their dog Roxie. In his spare time he does construction projects, plays ice hockey, wrestles, reads, and cheers for Detroit teams. Phone extension: 2001


Janet Mead has worked for Dexter Community Schools since 1996. She is married and has three children. Two of her children are graduates of Dexter Community Schools. Both are teachers, one is here in Michigan, the other is in China. Her oldest son is a student at the University of Michigan Flint, his wife is also a teacher. In her spare time she enjoys traveling with her husband Mike, reading, and spending time at her cottage with family. Phone extension: 2012

Mary Jo Sinelli has worked for Dexter Community Schools since 1997. She is married and has two children. Both of her children are graduates of Dexter High School. Her oldest son works for their family business and her youngest is a recent graduate of the University of Michigan. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her husband Joe, family gatherings and gardening. Phone extension: 2011
