DHS Counseling Department

The mission of the Dexter High School counseling department is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. Our program, as guided by the ASCA National Model, is designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, career, and personal/social strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens. There is a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential. Through the skillful use of strategic, timely, and personal interventions, counselors customize educational experiences in order to enhance capabilities, close achievement gaps among high and low performing groups and support positive choices.

Road Construction Update

Dear Dexter Families,

You may have heard the news or noticed the construction cones starting to show up on Dexter Ann Arbor Road. It's true, the Washtenaw County Road Commission will be resurfacing that road between Zeeb and Dan Hoey. This means that portion of the road will be closed to through traffic. The work is currently scheduled to begin Monday, May 7 and is expected to last approximately 3-4 weeks. You can read more about this project on the WCRC website
Buses will be able to use Dexter Ann Arbor during the construction, but there may be occasional delays due to flagging operations. Students on those buses will not be marked tardy. We expect that it will take a few days for all drivers to adjust to the detour route (attached) and below, and we hope that everyone can be patient during the adjustment period. Safety is our primary concern!
Looking ahead: the Baker Road improvements are slated to start once school is out of session. You can read about those plans here: Baker Road Roundabout.

Thank you in advance for your understanding.
Slow down, stay safe, and Go Dreads!

Update 5/7/2018:

We have been notified that gas line relocation work has started at the Baker-Dan Hoey intersection, requiring intermittent lane closures These are mostly going to be done during off-peak hours but that residents can expect delays. Dexter-Ann Arbor Road is closed as of this morning and they are already making good progress on the work. The WCRC goal is to open Dexter-Ann Arbor Road by June 1 depending on the weather.
