DHS Counseling Department
The mission of the Dexter High School counseling department is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. Our program, as guided by the ASCA National Model, is designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, career, and personal/social strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens. There is a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential. Through the skillful use of strategic, timely, and personal interventions, counselors customize educational experiences in order to enhance capabilities, close achievement gaps among high and low performing groups and support positive choices.

Dear Cornerstone School and New Elementary School Neighbors:
We wanted to let you know about upcoming construction that will impact your neighborhood as we work to create safe and efficient access to the new twin elementary campus. We planned these improvements based on recommendations from traffic engineers with significant input from the City of Dexter and other authorities. Granger Construction will manage this project.
Between June 18th and September 2nd Dexter Community Schools will make changes to Dan Hoey Rd. to add tum lanes to allow safer entry onto the campus and to reconfigure the parking lots. This roadwork will coincide with closure of the Washtenaw County Road Commission and City of Dexter Baker Road Roundabouts projects from Dan Hoey Rd. to Shield Rd.
Dan Hoey Road will be kept open between the Mill Creek School south entrance and the bus loop to Cornerstone during this project but it will be reduced to one lane during the day and there will be occasional stoppages as the work progresses. We recognize this will be inconvenient for both the Industrial Park and Walkabout Creek residents and we will do everything we can to assure safe travel in and out of Dongara Drive and Bishop Circle.
While every construction project involves some disruptions, we're committed to doing our very best to minimize the interference for local residents and businesses. An aerial map showing the area of the road work is enclosed. Here' s some information about the project that we feel is important to share:
- Daily working hours will be from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
- As part of their mandatory Safety Orientation Program, Granger instructs all workers to be considerate and to perform work as if they were residents of your neighborhood.
- If you have children at home, please remind them and their friends to keep their distance from the jobsite. The crosswalk from Dongara Drive to the DCS campus will remain open at all times.
Granger's day-to-day on-site superintendent for this project is Fred Watson. He can be reached at 517-899-3987 or at firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also contact the project office at 734-984-5522. Please do not hesitate to contact Granger Construction with any questions or concerns you may have about this project.
Thank you in advance for your patience and understanding as we improve campus access and make it safer to go to school for our students, parents, staff, and visitors.
