DHS Counseling Department

The mission of the Dexter High School counseling department is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. Our program, as guided by the ASCA National Model, is designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, career, and personal/social strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens. There is a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential. Through the skillful use of strategic, timely, and personal interventions, counselors customize educational experiences in order to enhance capabilities, close achievement gaps among high and low performing groups and support positive choices.

KnowledgeWorks Personalized Learning Review

Dear Staff, Families and Community Members,

Our district is partnering with KnowledgeWorks to assess our progress toward providing personalized learning for every student. We want to hear what you know about our vision, the role parents, community, and business leaders play in education, how you communicate, and more. We will use your input to set district goals and further our work with personalized, competency-based instruction.
There are a couple of ways you can provide input:
  • A survey will be sent to you in the next couple of days from KnowledgeWorks. Please do not discard this email -- it is not spam and is endorsed by the district administration for distribution. Please answer the survey on or before November 27th.
  • Focus groups consisting of 6-10 participants in each building are being set up by building administrators. Each focus group (parents, students, staff) will meet for about half an hour with representatives from KnowledgeWorks in late November. Building administrators will send dates, times, and locations. The purpose of the focus groups is to gauge the progress made toward providing personalized learning for every student.
We appreciate your insight, time and commitment to the success of every student. A graphic depiction of the process is below for further information.
Thank you for your help!
