DHS Counseling Department
The mission of the Dexter High School counseling department is to provide high quality, comprehensive school counseling services to all students. Our program, as guided by the ASCA National Model, is designed to help all students develop and enhance their academic, career, and personal/social strengths in order to become responsible and productive citizens. There is a commitment to individual uniqueness and the maximum development of human potential. Through the skillful use of strategic, timely, and personal interventions, counselors customize educational experiences in order to enhance capabilities, close achievement gaps among high and low performing groups and support positive choices.

Join Us for this Important Workshop!
As a school district, we strive to prepare our students to be successful adults. The key to this preparation is their social-emotional well-being. Last year, we surveyed our students in grades 5-12 regarding their engagement in school along with questions about how happy, safe, and healthy they feel. (The MiPHY survey results can be found on our website: www.dexterschools.org/boepresentations). Some of the results were what we anticipated and others were fairly alarming. One theme that we believe we must address, as a school district and community, is the mental health of our students.
Our opening conversation for this very important subject was a community book study on Tuesday, December 4th. On January 15th at 6:00pm, Dr. David Gleason will return to Dexter to lead an interactive workshop that builds on that conversation.
Dr. Gleason has graciously agreed that we may share his presentations with our community members who may not have been able to attend the event in person. The videos from December 4th have been posted on our website. When you respond to the invitation below, When you respond to the invitation below, a pop-up will provide the link to view those videos online via our password-protected page.
