School Resource Officer

Photo of Dexter School Resource Officer Jeremy HilobukSchool Resource Officer Jeremy Hilobuk has worked for the Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office for twenty years. He was assigned as a Detective to a multi-jurisdictional Major Case Team from 2001-2008 and was also on the Washtenaw County SWAT team from 1998-2011.

Officer Hilobuk says:
"I enjoy working with Dexter Community Schools because it is a great opportunity to work with kids on a different level.  The staff is terrific to work with and I feel that we make a really good team and have common goals.  I have been fortunate enough to have my kids go to Dexter Schools and while they were growing up get to know some of the kids that go to the school through sports and coaching.  We have made some terrific friendships through this.

A day at Dexter can be anything from handling a criminal complaint at one of the schools to working on traffic or safety issues.  I like it because it is different every day.  My favorite aspect of working in the schools is the ability to connect with students working with students on projects and service events.  A few examples are Shop with a Cop, Strive for a Safer drive, speaking to the drivers education classes, and W82 TXT (Wait to text).  I also spend time working with each school on safety planning and the A.L.I.C.E. initiative."

Officer Hilobuk's main office is at the high school but he works in all the buildings as needed.
