iPad Initiative Information
In 2013, the Michigan Department of Education awarded the Genesee Intermediate School District $5 million to begin developing a pilot program for the "Whole School Technology Transformation Grant."
In January, 2014, Cornerstone Elementary was selected as one of the schools to participate. In an effort to maintain continuity between Dexter's two elementary schools, the district augmented the $385,000 grant to extend the program to Bates' students and staff. During the 2014-2015 school year, iPads were distributed to all second grade classes and the district plans to continue distribution with a staggered roll-out to first graders, kindergartners, and young five students.
The video below offers a nice introduction to the program. It is from a longer article at local news source www.WeLoveDexter.com, which has many more details about the thought behind the program and its application. You may view the entire article here.
