Meet Your Teachers
Chris Hoelscher (English) – This will be my twelfth year here at Mill Creek Middle school, and I feel so privileged to be a part of such a wonderful school. I graduated from Oakland University with a Bachelor’s degree in Education and am currently working toward my Master’s in Educational Studies at OU. When not in the classroom, I enjoy fishing and making my own fishing videos, listening to music, and reading. I love infusing these favorite pastimes into my teachings. I am also an avid Detroit and U of M sports fan. I cannot wait to begin working with you and your child in what I am sure will be a fun and exciting school year!
Jill Jastren (Science) - I come from a large family of two older brothers and two younger sisters. I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan, attended my undergrad at Central Michigan University and completed my Masters program at U of M Dearborn in educational technology. This is my ninth year in the district and my fourth year as a seventh grade teacher. The start of September marks seven years married to my wonderful husband, Nick. We spent our summer with our two kids, Cecilia and Dominick. I love chocolate, coffee, paddle boarding, boating, reading, science, photography, and music.
John Sperendi (Social Studies) - I have a Bachelor's degree from EMU and a Master's of Science in Education from Walden University. This will be my eleventh year teaching in Dexter and seventh year at Mill Creek. When not in the classroom, I enjoy playing music (the bass), working out, reading, camping, and riding bikes with my kids. My wife is a massage therapist and we have two kids, ages 13 and 10.
Elizabeth Treppa (Resource Room/Teacher Consultant) – I am excited to be working with our team this year. This is my eleventh year at Mill Creek. I’ve received my bachelor’s and master's degree in Special Education from Eastern Michigan University. In addition, I’ve earned my specialist in Educational Leadership from Oakland University. When not teaching, I enjoy spending time up north, running, visiting family, and scrapbooking. I look forward to another great year at Mill Creek.
Julie Wineman (Math) – I’m really looking forward to a great year with you! This year will be my 23rd year in teaching and 19th year at Mill Creek! I earned my bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University (Go Chips!) and my master's degree from Ferris State. In my free time,I love to play sports, especially volleyball, and spending lots of time with my family. This summer we camped quite a bit and enjoyed time on our boat. Can’t wait to meet and learn all about you!
